Independent Actors Theatre is one of Columbia’s newest (and we think greatest) public non-profit theatre. Our mission is to show audiences work they likely wouldn’t see anywhere else in Columbia, and to provide experienced actors opportunities to perform challenging material.
For those who might have an interest in such things, such as the press, here are two stylistic guidelines regarding our name:
- First, no definite article precedes “Independent Actors Theatre.” We are not “The Independent Actors Theatre.” Just “Independent Actors Theatre.” Don’t believe me? Just check out our Articles of Incorporation. They’re filed under Company Info-> Organizing Documents.
- Second, there is no apostrophe in “Actors”. It’s not possessive, merely plural. For similar usage, check out Actors Theatre of Louisville.
- Third, (I lied about two), theatre is spelled, in this case at least, T H E A T R E. Not T H E A T E R. Just double checking.
Any other press related questions may be directed to our Artistic Director at firstname.lastname@example.org.
